An Ethiopian scholar suggested for a coordinated effort to attract more professional Diaspora volunteers.
Dr. solomon Belay Faris presented an auto ethnographic research on Diaspora Volunteerism and international development in Ethiopia Guyana, and Canada. Solomon’s study examined the extent , challenges and future directions of diaspora volunteerism in the 3 countries
The research study that was conducted with the help of the Association for Higher Education (AHEAD) recommended a more appropriate policies, rigorous outreach and collaboration between stakeholders to attract more Diaspora volunteers.
According to Dr. Solomon, Diaspora volunteers also should value local knowledge of the host country.
