Toni Morgan has turned what was certainly destined to be an ordinary life to that of an extraordinarily biography. She transitioned from being homeless and hopeless to a potential student to one of the world’s most prestigious public institution –Harvard University.
The 32 year old, who was once a high-school dropout, and later, a graduate of Ryerson University, was stuck between dead-end jobs that barely paid the bills and an area shelter resident just a decade ago yet has made her life a Hollywood like fairy tale and an inspiration to countless.
In applying to Harvard, she reflected how she faced insecurity and lack of confidence yet, at the end, she forwarded her application to test her potential. When her acceptance email arrived, it took her three days to open it and realize that her once far-fetched dream had become a reality. That she would be a Harvard student only if she manage to come up with her tuition fee.
After appearing on CBC radio this morning and the Toronto Star, the young activist has, managed to raise more than $50 thousand dollars of the 50K balance via GoFundMe. By tonight, she is expected to raise the balance and make her unlikely story a reality. She intends to study for her MA in Education.
