In a statement posted on his official page,Canadian Member of Parliament Paul Dewar, strongly denounces the execution of Ethiopian Christians in Libya by ISIS.
“I strongly condemn the recent brutal and horrifying executions by ISIS in Libya. I extend my condolences to the families of the victims, including the 30 Ethiopian citizens killed in the latest killings. These attacks are only the latest in a series of deplorable violence by ISIS against Christians and other minority groups in the Middle East and North Africa.
The full list of ISIS’s crimes is astonishing and atrocious, including mass killing of civilians, rape and other sexual violence, forced recruitment of children, and the destruction of sacred and historic sites. The violence ISIS perpetrates is entirely unjustifiable. The only ideology it supports is an ideology of hate, and the perpetrators of this hateful violence must be brought to justice.
Canada must help support the development of responsible governance in the region to counter the spread of ISIS’s violent terror, and help support refugees and other victims in the region. “
Paul Dewar is a member of Parliament for New Democrats Party (NDP) for Otawwa Center.
