Ethiopians in Toronto Celebrate The Victory of ADWA.
Hundreds of Ethiopians in Toronto gathered to celebrate the 120th Anniversary of the Victory of Adwa. At a cultural event organized by the Ethiopian Association in Greater Toronto Area, residents paid respect to the Heroic fallen soldiers of Ethiopia that fought back the Italian colonizers.
The president of the Association, Yeshihareg Mersha reiterated the significance of the Victory of Adwa for the decolonization of the rest of Africa. She urged the community members to follow the examples of the Adwa Victory and maintain the History and Heritage of the country.
Representatives of faith leaders, seniors women and the youth also acknowledges the importance of Adwa Victory as an example for today’s generation to look back in pride
The afternoon saw a lineup of performances from various Toronto based artists with artistic presentations from Haddis Nigat Arts Forum.
The Association presented medals to Haddis Nigart Arts Forum, Seb Seb Belu Dance Group, Ashenda Group, kids Dancing groups from Guelph, Djs and others in recognition of their contribution to the Ethiopian Association .
The event concluded with a vibrating performance by the Toronto based artist Rassellas.
