Lamb(2015) was the first Ethiopian Film to premier at the Cannes film festival. The film centres on a half-Jewish boy named Ephraim played by Rediat Amare.
After the death of his mother, he is sent away by his father to live with cousins in rural Ethiopia. While his father searches for work in the city, he begins cooking for his family and befriends a pet lamb. The film follows Ephraim’s coming of age, while he protects his beloved lamb from slaughter. This is the first feature film by Ethiopian born director and writer Yared Zeleke, who studied film at NYU. You can purchase a copy of Lamb here: https://www.trigon-film.org/en/shop/DVD/Lamb
