Uganda to Build Hydro Electric Dam on Nile

A Chinese firm submitted an application to the Ugandan government to build a dam on the Nile.

Aljazeera reported that Uganda received a licence application from the Chinese firm to build a 1.4 bn hydroelectric plant on Nile river .The Ayago power plant will have a capacity of 840 megawatts (MW) . It will be Uganda’s largest power plant while it will enhance East Africa’s hydro electric potential by 40 percent .

According to Reuters, POWERCHINA International  will hear from Ugandan government by the end of April .

Currently Ethiopia is building the largest Hydro electric dam on Nile and is negotiating a deal with Egypt and Sudan on the filling of the dam .
