Thirteen Canadians working with a Canadian charity have been detained in the city of Gondar in Ethiopia.
The 13 Canadians who are working and volunteering for Alberta-based charity group have been detained after allegations of practicing medicine without permission and dispensing expired medicines.
Two other Ethiopian staff members of the charity have also been detained.
CTV reported that Global Affairs Canada is aware of the detained Canadians and has been in direct contact with the government of Ethiopia.
The charity group Medicine Hat said they had permits needed to provide medical support in the country and they have been operating in the area for more than 15 years .
