Ethiopia’s Letesenbet Gidey Breaks world Record in 10,000 meters

Ethiopian Athlete Letesenbet Gidey broke inWOmen’s 10,000 meters. Letesenbet broke the record that was only two days old. Two days ago Ethiopian born,Dutch athlete, Sifan Hassan set the world record just two days ago and Letesenbet lowered that record by 5.79 seconds clocking 29 minutes, 1.03 seconds .

ኢትዮጵያዊቷ ኣትሌት ለተሰንበት ግደይ የ ኣለም 10 ሺ ሜትር ሩጫ ክብረወሰንን ሰበረች በሲፈን ሀሰን ለሁለት ቀናት ተይዞ የነበረውን የ 10,000 ሜትር የዓለም ሪኮርድ ነው ለተሰንበት ግደይ የሰበረችው። ለተሰንበት ውድድሩን በ 29 01.03 በሆነ ግዜ በመጨረስ ሪከርዱን ጨብጣለች ፤

ለተሰንበት በኣሁኑ ሰኣት የ 10ሺ እና 5 ሺ ክብረ ወሰኖችን በኣንድ ላይ በመያዝ በታሪክ ተመዝግባለች፤፥ በቀጣይም ይህንን ሬከርድ መልሳ መስበር እንደምትፈልግ ተናግራለች።

CBC reported that Letesenbet expected to break the world record . “I expected to run a world record,” said the 23-year-old Gidey, who became the first woman to hold both the 5,000 and 10,000 world records since Ingrid Kristiansen of Norway did so from 1986 to 1993. “I’d like to try to break the world record again and break 29 minutes.”

Ethiopians across the world have been expressing their joy on social media praising Gidey as a national hero.
