The Canadian hockey team of Vancouver, Canucks wear Jerseys with Ethiopian traditional cloth pattern and Gee’z numbers.
The club announced that in honour of Black History month, the players wear Jerseys that reflect one of Ethiopia’s traditional costume patterns.
የካናዳ ቫንኩቨር ታዋቂ የ በረዶ ላይ ገና ጨዋታ (ሆኪ) ቡድን ካነክስ ተጫዋቾች የኢትዬጵያ ባህላዊ ጥለት ዲዛይን ያለበት ማሊያ አድርገው ተጫወቱ።

The team’s Jersey has been designed by the Vancouver based award winning Ethiopian Canadian artist, Yared Nigussu .
The Canucks announced that the month-long celebration will be highlighted by the team’s second annual Black History Month game on Monday, February 13 against the Detroit Red Wings, presented by Budweiser.
“The Vancouver Canucks take an enormous amount of pride in trying to make the game of hockey a more diverse, inclusive and safe space,” said Michael Doyle, President, Canucks Sports & Entertainment, Business Operations.
As per the statement from the team ,the Canucks wear special Black History Month warm-up jerseys designed by award-winning artist, Yared Nigussu. Nigussu channeled his Ethiopian-Canadian background to reimagine the Canucks Orca and shoulder patches with rich colours, patterns, and textile designs of Ethiopia. The stick-in-rink shoulder patches displayed Genna sticks, used in traditional Ethiopian field hockey, and each player’s jersey will feature Ge’ez numbering from the Amharic language of Ethiopia. These one-of-a-kind, player-worn warm-up jerseys will be available on Vanbase.ca on game day (auction only) alongside other Black History Month merchandise.

የቡድኑ ማሊያ ላይ የሚያርፈውን የገና ጨዋታ ዱላ እና ጥለት የሰራው አርቲስት ያሬድ ለኢትዬ ፊደል እንደነገረን የ ካነክ ቡድን ሀላፊዎች የኢትዬጵያን ባህላዊ አልባሳት ዲዛይን እንዲሁም የግእዝ ቋንቋን ጥንታዊነት በማድነቅ የበለጠ ለማወቅ እንደሚሹ ተናግረዋል።
ይህንን ሀሳብ ለቡድኑ በማቅረብ የሀገራችንን ባህል እና ጥንታዊ ቋንቋዎች በማስተዋወቁ ደስተኛ እንደሆነ ያሬድ ይናገራል
ቢቂላ አዋርድን ጨምሮ በ ሌሎች ወገኖች የኢትዮጵያን ልዩ ልዩ ባህላዊ ትውፊቶች እና የግእዝ ቋንቋን ለአዲሱ ትውልድ ለማስተዋወቅ የሚደረጉ ጥረቶችን አደንቃለሁ ብሏል ።
