In a groundbreaking victory, Olivia Chow has emerged as Toronto’s first-ever female mayor since Barabara Hall in 1997.
Chow, 66 is an experienced politician and community advocate. She delivered a message of gratitude to her dedicated volunteers and supporters during her victory speech.
In her speech, Chow emphasized her commitment to working collaboratively with all levels of government to enhance the city’s well-being. Recognizing the challenges that lie ahead, she remebred her own resilience and determination. “I was knocked down, but I got up because this city is worth fighting for,” she passionately declared.
Congratulations and best wishes poured in from all corners of the city and beyond. Prominent figures, including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Provincial Premier Doug Ford, and former Toronto Mayor John Tory, extended their congratulations to the newly elected Mayor Chow.
