Ethiopian Canadian Professionals Mentor Newcomers at an Event in Toronto.
In an information sharing event organized by the Crisis Committee at Ethiopian Association in Toronto, Ethiopian Canadian professionals shared their valuable insights and experiences with newcomers, offering them crucial advice on various aspects of life in Canada. The event aimed to provide newcomers with the knowledge and support they need to integrate successfully into Canadian society.
Yusuf Abdulmenan, a financial advisor, engaged the audience with an enlightening discussion about financial literacy in Canada. His presentation included a specific focus on the importance of life insurance, shedding light on how this financial instrument can provide security and peace of mind to individuals and their families. Yusuf’s insights were well-received, equipping newcomers with essential financial knowledge.
Justice of the Peace at the Ontario Court of Justice, Sisay Woldemichael, stood as a prominent figure in the Ethiopian Canadian community. He shared his extensive experience in Canada’s legal system chronicling his journey from being a newcomer to becoming a police officer and later became a justice of the peace in the Canadian court system . His presentation was of significant value to newcomers, as understanding the legal system is vital for their integration into Canadian society.
Selahadin Getahun Black Community Access program & initiatives manager at Skills for Change, provided invaluable tips for career development and job hunting in Canada. He highlighted the importance of volunteering as a stepping stone to establishing a successful career path. Drawing on his own experiences, Selahadin encouraged newcomers to embrace volunteering as a way to gain experience and build a strong foundation for their careers in Canada.
Sosena Assefa, an IT analyst by profession and a passionate advocate for Ethiopian culture, shared her journey of preserving and promoting Ethiopian traditions. She founded the Sebseb Belu cultural group in Toronto, which has performed on various stages to promote Ethiopian culture. Sosena also encouraged newcomers to engage in the activities of the cultural committee and become actively involved in cultural promotion, providing them with a sense of belonging and connection to their roots.

The Crisis Comitee at the Ethiopian Association in Toronto has played a vital role in supporting the influx of Ethiopian refugees who have recently arrived in the city. With over 30 years of service to the community, the organization has provided comprehensive support to newcomers, helping them adapt to their new lives in Canada.
The mentoring event served as a guidance for Ethiopian newcomers, equipping them with the knowledge and resources necessary for a successful transition into Canadian society.
የኢትዮጵያ ካናዳውያን ባለሙያዎች በቶሮንቶ አዲስ ለመጡ ኢትዮጵያውያን ልምዳቸውን አካፈሉ
በቶሮንቶ የኢትዮጵያውያን ማህበር ክራይሲስ ኮሚቴ ባዘጋጀው የመረጃ ልውውጥ ዝግጅት ላይ ኢትዮጵያውያን ካናዳውያን ባለሙያዎች ጠቃሚ ግንዛቤዎቻቸውን እና ልምዳቸውን ለአዲስ መጪዎች በማካፈል በካናዳ የተለያዩ የህይወት ዘርፎች ላይ ወሳኝ ምክሮችን ሰጥተዋል። ዝግጅቱ አዲስ መጤዎች በካናዳ ማህበረሰብ ውስጥ በተሳካ ሁኔታ እንዲቀላቀሉ የሚያስፈልጋቸውን እውቀት እና ድጋፍ ለመስጠት ያለመ ነው።
የፋይናንስ አማካሪ የሆኑት አቶ ዩሱፍ አብዱልመናን በካናዳ ስላለው የፋይናንስ እውቀት በተለይም በ ህይወት ኢንሹራንስ ዙሪያ ሰፊ ገለጻ አድርገዋል። በተለይ የህይወት መድህን (ላይፍ ኢንሹራንስ) ለግለሰቦች እና ለቤተሰቦቻቸው ደህንነትን እና የአእምሮ ሰላምን እንዴት እንደሚሰጥ አብራርተዋል ፡፡
በኦንታርዮ ፍርድ ቤት ጀስቲስ ኦፍ ዘ ፒስ ዳኛ የሆኑት አቶ ሲሳይ ወልደሚካኤል በካናዳ ከአዲስ መጭነት ተነስተው አሁን ላሉበት ደረጃ እንዴት እንደበቁ ልምዳቸውን አካፍለዋል ፡፡ በ ካናዳ በ ፖሊስ ኦፊሰርነት ካገለገሉ በኋላ አሁን በ ፍርድ ቤት ዳኝነት እየሰሩ እንደሆነ ተናግረዋል ፡፡ የካናዳን የህግ ሥርዓት በተለይም የወንጀል ፍትሕ ሥርዓትን መረዳቱ በካናዳ ማህበረሰብ ውስጥ ለመዋሃድ ወሳኝ መሆኑን የአቶ ሲሳይ ለአዲስ መጪዎቹ ተናግረው ወደፊት ሰፋ ያለ ማብራሪያ እንደሚሰጡ ቃል ገብተዋል።
በ ስኪልስ ፎር ቼንጅ (Skills for Change ) በተባለው ድርጅት ውስጥ የፕሮግራም ስራ አስኪያጅ የሆኑት ሳልሃዲን ጌታሁን በካናዳ ውስጥ ለሙያ እድገት እና ለስራ ፍለጋ የሚረዱ ጠቃሚ ምክሮችን ሰጥተዋል። የተሳካ የሙያ መንገድ ለመያዝ የበጎ ፈቃድ አገልግሎትን እንደ መሰላል ድንጋይ ገልጿል። ሳላሃዲን ከራሱ ተሞክሮዎች በመነሳት አዲስ መጤዎች በጎ ፈቃደኝነትን እንዲቀበሉ ልምድ እንዲቀስሙ እና በካናዳ ለሙያቸው ጠንካራ መሰረት እንዲገነቡ አበረታቷቸዋል።
በሙያቸው የአይቲ አናሊስት ናቸው ሶሰና አሰፋ( ሱዚ) የኢትዮጵያን ወጎች የመጠበቅ እና የማስተዋወቅ የህይወት ልምዳቸውን አካፍለዋል። በቶሮንቶ የኢትዮጵያን ባህል ለማስተዋወቅ በተለያዩ መድረኮች ትርኢቱን ያቀረበውን የሰብሰብ በሉ የባህል ቡድን መስርተዋል። ሶስና አዲስ መጭዎች በባህላዊ እንቅስቃሴዎች እንዲሳተፉ መክረዋል፡፡ በወቅቱም የ ኢትዮጵያን ዘርፈ ብዙ ባህል የሚያሳዩ ስብስቦቻቸውን አሳይታዋል ፡፡
በቶሮንቶ የሚገኘው የኢትዮጵያውያን ማኅበር ክራይሲስ ኮሚቴ በቅርቡ ወደ ከተማዋ የመጡትን ኢትዮጵያውያን በመደገፍ ከፍተኛ ሚና ተጫውቷል። ማህበረሰቡን ከ30 ዓመታት በላይ ለአዲስ መጭዎች ሁሉን አቀፍ ድጋፍ አድርጓል፣ ይህም በካናዳ ካለው አዲስ ህይወታቸው ጋር እንዲላመዱ ረድቷቸዋል።
