At least 229 people killed in a landslide in Southern Ethiopia.
It has been reported that the death toll from a landslide in the Gofa Zone of Ethiopia has reached 229. Local authorities told media that majority of the victims were the local residents who gathered at the scene to save the lives of the people.
Ethiopian Prime Minsiter Abiy Ahmed and other officials as well as the diplomatic mission representatives in Ethiopia expressed their codolences to the families of the victims . Ethiopians in Canada and across the world are also sending out messages of condolences on social media.
A local charity account has been announced to raise funds for the families of the victims .
