The Ethio-Canadian independent feature film “Qalat” is set to premiere on September 8, 2024, at the Armenia Youth Center in Scarborough, Toronto. Directed by Ethiopian Canadian Film maker and sports journalist, Yonas Haile Meskel, “Qalat” looks in to the lives and challenges of two Ethiopian friends who immigrate to Canada in search of new beginnings.

በቶሮንቶ ሴንቴኒያል ኮሌጅ የፊልም ሙያ የተማረው ዮናስ የሰራው ይህ ፊልም በ ካናዳ አዲስ መጭ የሆኑ ጉዋደኛሞችን የህይወት ፈተና ያሳያል ፡፡ ፊልሙ 1 ሰአት ከ45 ደቂቃ ርዝማኔ ሲኖረው በካናዳ የሚኖሩ የፊልም ባለሙያዎች ተሳትፈውበታል ፡፡

በቀጣይም በ ሌሎች የካናዳ የተለያዩ ከተሞች ታይቶ በአሜሪካን እዲሁም ኢትዮጵያ ሲኒማ ቤቶች ይቀርባል ፡፡
The film explores the complex journey of immigration, highlighting the personal and systemic challenges faced by the two friends. As they navigate the immigration process, they also confront personal struggles, testing their resilience and determination. Central to the narrative is the question of whether their deep-rooted friendship can withstand the pressures and trials they face in their new environment.
“Qalat” features a talented cast of actors from Toronto, bringing authenticity and local flavor to the story. The film is set to show a dramatic exploration of friendship and perseverance in the face of hardship.
The premiere will take place at 4 PM at the Armenia Youth Center, located at 50 Hallcrown Place, Scarborough.
