Ethiopian Canadian Film Alazar to Premiere at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival

The highly anticipated film Alazar, written by Ethiopian filmmaker Beza Hailu, is set to premiere at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). The film will be screened at the following times:

September 10, 2024, at 6:45 PM – Scotia Bank Theatre

September 14, 2024, at 8:45 PM – Scotia Bank Theatre

Alazar tells the gripping story of a man on a quest to uncover the mysterious disappearance of his father. The film is directed by prominent Ethiopian Canadian director Tamara Dawit, known for her work on Finding Sally and Made in Ethiopia. The project is a collaboration with producer Martin Jerome of Les Cigognes Films, with co-production by Kidam and Condor.

Alazar continues the tradition of Ethiopian-themed films being showcased at TIFF, following in the footsteps of Doka, Sweetness in the Belly, Lamb, and Teza by the esteemed Professor Haile Gerima.
