The Annual Irreecha Festival Celebrated in Ethiopia’s Capital.
Ethiopians, predominantly from the Oromia region, gathered in Addis Ababa to celebrate the annual Irreecha festival, a significant cultural event for the Oromo people.
Attendees, dressed in vibrant traditional attire, offered praises to the creator in a show of gratitude.
According to the Ethiopian News Agency, Irreecha symbolizes unity, harmony, and peaceful coexistence among people in the country. Rooted in Oromo tradition, the festival is a way to give thanks to God for a bountiful harvest, fertile land, and peace.
Participants from across Ethiopia, as well as people from around the world, joined the celebration in the capital. The festival marks the end of the rainy season and the beginning of the harvest season. Recognized by UNESCO as a cultural heritage, Irreecha is one of Africa’s largest festivals, drawing hundreds of thousands of people annually.
