Since the Ontario election was called, CivicAction and Move the GTHA has been taking to streets, subways and buses of the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA) to channel the frustration and congestion residents face each day.
The #VoteTransit campaign’s goal is to encourage residents to see the June 12 election as an historic opportunity to move our region’s transportation network into the 21st century. We are urging residents to ask all parties’ candidates how they plan to fund the next wave of transportation improvements in our region by sharing quick facts and questions that are available at www.movethegtha.com.
We are also asking people to share their commute story on social media using the #votetransit hashtag.
Investing in transportation is about more than creating lines on a map—it means a higher quality of life, better health, and more jobs for families. Now is the time to make this the ballot box issue for politicians that will define how we live and whether we prosper over the next generation.

- We have among the worst commute times in North America, and they’re only getting worse
- There’s a plan underway to tackle congestion on our roads and subways, but we need new money to fund it
- No new major roads, subways, or transit lines will be built without funding from the next Premier of Ontario
