Ethiopian Born Tamano Shata Became Israel’s Immigration Minister

Tamano Shata will be the first Ethiopian minister in Israel’s history . BBC news reported that Shata has been appointed minister of Immigration.

She is a member of the centerist Blue and white party where she has been vocal about the mis treatment of Ethiopian Jews and other groups .

Shata was born in Ethiopia and came to Israel with her parents who fled Ethiopia to Sudan to be later evacuated to Israel through operation Moses. This operation airlifted 7,000 Ethiopian Jews to Israel .

The 39 years old Shata is the first Ethiopian Jews to be elected in to the Israeli Kensett.
