The prominent Ethiopian musician Muluken Melesse Passes away at the age of 70 .
A very well-known figure in Ethiopian music breathed his last today, leaving behind a legacy that resonates deeply within the nation’s musical heritage. Born in Gojjam, a province in northern Ethiopia, and later relocating to Addis Ababa at a young age under the care of his uncle, Mulkuken’s journey in music began at a tender age.
የኢትዮጵያ ሙዚቃ ፈርጥ የነበረው አርቲስት ሙሉቀን መለሰ ከዚ አለም በሞት ተለይቷል፡፡ ከ ልጅ እስከ አዋቂ የሚወደዱ አለማዊ እና መንፈሳዊ ዜማዎችን ለ አገራችን ሙዚቃ ያበረከተው ድምጻዊ ሙሉቀን በ 70 አመቱ ማረፉን የተለያዩ የሚዲያ አውታሮች ዘግበዋል ፡፡
ሙሉቀን ከ ሙዚቃ ህይወቱ በመገለልም በ ፕሮቴስታንት ቤተክርስቲያን ውስጥ ለረጅም አመታት በ መዝሙር አገልግሎት ይሰጥ ነበር፡፡ ኢትዮ ፊደል ለ ቤተሰቦቹ እና ለወዳጅ አድናቂዎቹ መጽናናትን ይመኛል
At the age of 12, Mulkuken embarked on his musical career in nightclubs and groups across the capital. His first stage performance, “Enate Sitewoldgne Metchi Amakerchign,” marked the inception of his musical journey.
In 1972, Mulkuken made his debut on vinyl with the song “Hedetch Alu,” showcasing his unique vocals. Hits like “Nanu Nanu Ney”, “Yiregem” , “Kumetesh Loga new” were top in Ethiopia’s urban music . He performed his songs to make them distinctly his own. His songs reached a depth whereby they touched the hearts of millions around the world.
Local media in Ethiopia reported the death of Muluken melesse and have been playing his songs .
In the early 1980s, Mulkuken, joined the Ethiopian Evangelical church serving with his gospel songs and he has been away from secular music scene since then.
Mulkuken Melesse’s passing leaves a void in the Ethiopian music industry, but his melodies will continue to echo through generations, as reminders of his extraordinary contribution to the cultural tapestry of Ethiopia.
