Former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan Passed Away at 80.ኮፊ አናን አረፉ

The former Secretary General of United Nations Kofi Annan passed away today at the age of 80.

የቀድሞው የተባበሩት መንግስታት ድርጅት ዋና ፀሃፊ ኮፊ አናን አረፉ::
አለማችን ታላቅ ዲፕሎማት አጣች ተብላል:: የ ካናዳው ጠቅላይ ሚኒስትር ጀስቲን ትሩዶ ኮፊ ኣናን ለ ኣለም ሰላም መገንባት ከ ንግግር ባለፈ ህይወታቸውን የሰጡ ነበሩ ብለዋል::

The Nobel Peace Prize winner, Kofi Annan, served the United Nations for several years in various capacities. He was the head of the UN from 1997 to 2006 ascending his way up from being a staff at UN.

“He was an ardent champion of peace, sustainable development, human rights and the rule of law.” Posted the foundation .

In their emotional tributes, leaders of the world acknowledged Kofi Annan’s efforts in  bringing peace and stability around the world .

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau commented on Annan’s death saying Kofi Annan was a dedicated peace builder

“Kofi Annan didn’t just talk about building a more just and peaceful world, he dedicated his life to doing it — and the world is a better place because of him.It’s now up to all of us to carry his work forward.”” Trudeau said on his Twitter today.

The first African to be elected as the UN secretary General, Annan is remembered by many as a symbol of human rights and commitment to fairness.

Kofi Annan was stationed in Ethiopia working for the UN for over 10 years.He often reflects on his attacheme t to Ethiopia and its people. Annan was one of the dignatoriea that attended the peace agreement to end the border war between Ethiopia and Eritrea in 2001.

Although he was heading the UN during the most turbulant world political events including the Rwandan genocide,the Ghanaian diplomat Annan is praised as a visonary and inspirational leader.
