The federal government announced $1 Billion for Scarborough Transit
Federal Minister for infrastructure Francois Philip made the announcement in the presence of Mayor John Tory, Ministers MP and other politicians.
The funding will be allocated for the expansion of subway and rail services in Scarborough. It will also be uses to improve the Bloor yong TTC station. The Minister said the funding will help build another platform for line 2 and renovate Line 1.
The constructions on Yong and Bloor station will reduce the congestion on one of the busiest stations in Canada.
According to CBC ,the federal funding is part of the 12 years 180 Billion infrastructure plan
In a statement sent to ethiofidel.com MPP Aris Babikian in Scarborough-Agincourt said that the funding will help residents of Scarborough to access world class transit system.
Similarly, the federal government offered $54 million to Ontario for the prevention of illegal gun and gang related activities. Announcing the funding, Federal minister of Border Security and Organized Crime Reduction, Bill Blair stated that the funding will focus on prevention and enforcement.
According to CP 24, Toronto has seen 85 shootings this year so far with 430 victims.
