Canadian government is looking in to ways to offer permanent residency status for asylum seekers who served during the COVID-19 pandemic .
CBC reported the government’s special program designed to grant permanent residency to refugee claimants who have worked in health care during the pandemic.
The Federal government’s plan will need the approval from the cabinet . If approved , it is expected to benefit several asylum seeker health care professionals and it is reported that the plan might include security officers who worked in the health care area during COVID pandemic .
Quebec is expected to have the highest number of beneficiaries in the special program. However, the plan will include all regions in Canada .
The plan includes health care workers only. It does not extend to other essential front line workers during the pandemic.
