Close to 9 million Canadians didn’t cash cheques worth $1.4 billion issued to them by the government.

የካናዳ ገቢዎች ድርጅት እንዳስታወቀው ካናዳውያኑ ከ ታክስ ገ ቢ ማሳወቅ ቡኋላ መንግስት የከፈላቸውን ቼክ ሳይዘረዝ ሩ ለ አመታት ይዘው ቆይተዋል በ አማካይ የ $158 ዶላር ዋጋ ያላቸውን ቼኮች ያልዘረዘሩት ግለሰቦች በ ቅርቡ ገንዘባችሁን ውሰዱ የሚል ደብዳቤ ይደርሳቸዋል በ መንግስት የተከፈላቸው እና እስከዛሬ ካናዳውያኑ ካልዘረዘሩት ቼክ ውስጥ ከ 24 አመታት በላይ ሳይዘረዘሩ የተቀመጡ ቼኮች አሉ

ማንኛውም ግለሰብ ከ ረቨኑ ካናዳ ያልዘረዘረው ቼክ መኖሩን ለማወቅ በ ረቨኑ ካናዳ አካውንቱ ገብቶ መመልከት ይችላል


The tax agency , Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) said that it will issue e mails to those who do not cash their CRA cheques

With some of the cheques  going as far back as 1998, the CRA wants the money goes to the people who pay taxes
CBC reported, the average amount of cashes sitting in Canadians account not cashed is $158 

 The agency will send e mails to a group of 25,000/people in 3 intervals in August, november and one group in May 2023.
Some of the un cashed cheques are from child benefit, GST /HST , Alberta energy tax refund and other provincial and territorial programs .

As part of its effort to clear backlogs, the CRA paid out $802 million to tax payers since February 2020.

Any one can check if they have uncashed payments by logging on to their account
