Ethiopian born Israeli film writer and director äläm-Wärqe Davidian will premier her movie, Fig Tree in Toronto at the International film Festival .
The movie follows a journey of a young girl who had a hard time leaving her Christian love. The movie will primer tomorrow September 7 at the Scotia theatre . It will also be screened at 4:45 at TIFF Bell Light Box Cinema .The third screening for those who can not make it in the coming weekends, will be on September the 15th at 1 PM .
The director of the movie, A äläm-Wärqe Davidian was born in Awash, Ethiopia. She has directed the short films “Transitions” and “Facing the Wall.” “Fig Tree” is her feature directorial debut.
In her interview with women and Holywood edition ot TIFF, she described the Fig Treemovie as ” It is a longing film for my grandmother. It’s a kind of search for an answer to something that once was and now is lost.Also, it’s about women who create a reality of routine and love while resisting to cooperate with a war atmosphere created by men.”
